Kevnvek
Excellent, Dat! That waypoint add on is EXACTLY what I had been wanting in Minecraft multiplayer. The chest thing will also be very useful, although I'm not too paranoid, unless we somehow keep getting more players we don't know. Kevnvek
Well Kevin I want to eventually have at least it open to people after an introductory period.Well in that case maybe we should eventually get a mod that makes all blocks in a certain area, from the top to bottom of the height/depth caps, only editable by a specific person or an admin. We have to make sure we're not greedy about the territory, but something like, Spawn protecting his pyramid, or me protecting my tower, would be nice. Or at least block protection, I was just thinking of the territory thing so people don't build on it though.Honestly I kind of prefer it being just a relatively small group of people we know, so we know our stuff won't get messed with. spawn622
Be careful with the personal way points. Don't set one and then build a block on top of it. You will teleport and be inside the block. Thanks for all the extra stuff Dat.

I've already got that on the way. There's a plugin out for it, but I'm letting it mature a little before I roll it out. Not to mention it isn't necessary atm. Before I open it up to more users I will have it as secure as I can.
Kevnvek
Well as long as you're careful and we get some sort of protection I guess I'd be alright with it. It's your server after all lol.
Dateranoth
Not sure if anyone tried to connect to the server today or not, but if so, sorry for the downtime. I guess we had some power issues around here while I was at work and the server must have went on and off multiple times. I came home from work to the lovely hardware failure beeps. Checked it out and it appears I lost 2 1gig memory sticks from the ordeal. So, now that the bad news is over, I can say it doesn't look as if anything Minecraft related was lost. I also have taken this opportunity to do what I should have done a long time ago. The server is now protected by a 600watt UPS, and instead of replacing the RAM I just decided to upgrade. 4GB is on the way. We may be a little sluggish until it gets here, but once it does I'll have 6GB in this thing. Afterwards, it shouldn't have a problem with the memory hog that is Minecraft or much of anything server related for that matter.

Dateranoth
Just two sticks/2 gigabytes of memory. RAM memory that is. Nothing else as far as I can tell. Minecraft runs on the server PC so it's pretty well backed up. Redundant hard drives protect most of the important stuff. My gaming PC already had a UPS. Now I have both the server and my gaming rig running on UPS. I shouldn't have any more issues with power failures. Well, it can and will still happen, but at least it will safely shut down now when there's just a few minutes remaining on the battery life. Dateranoth
That's pretty awesome PK. I need to sit down and watch it all the way through sometime. The server's RAM came in so we're up to 6GB again. Shouldn't have any issues anymore.

Dateranoth
Sorry for the down time. It would figure that I would leave right as the first update in a while rolls out. The server is back up and running the latest version of Minecraft and the mods. READ THIS!!!!The fire and lava protection has been removed! I see no reason to keep on safety measures when we have only allowed users on the server. Lava will now flow on any surface and ignite objects. Fire will burn stuff and spread. If there are any accidents the servers is backing up every 5 to 10 minutes so let me know, and I can roll back. If it does become a problem let me know and I will nerf it again, but as of right now the protection is off. Be careful.
Kevnvek
Alright cool, I can use fire to clean up all the damn leaves around my tower. Are buckets working again, too? We may need to have them handy with fire being able to burn again.
Dateranoth
Yep. Tree cleanup is a big reason I wanted it back. Buckets should work. I have a mod thats suppose to fix them, but I haven't tested it.
Dateranoth
Another notice. Chest protect is disabled for the time being. It isn't currently working with the latest update so I disabled it for safety. Also, iron doors seem to be working properly again as of the latest update. Dateranoth
Ok, I was tired of waiting on the updates to the previous Chest Protect Mod so I have changed over to a new one. Everyone who had used the previous mod to create chests will have their chests still protected using this mod. This mod defaults to protected chests. If you have chests in world that have not been protected you will have to destroy them and rebuild them before the protection commands will work. Once they've been created with the mod active you can use the below commands to change the permissions on them. While another incarnation of this plugin already exists it has not been updated to work with b124. I wanted to get used to working with Hey0 so I wrote this during my lunch break today.Basically, whenever a user places a chest it is locked to their player name. If any other users attempt to open it it appears empty - also any attempt to place items into the chest results in the item dropped being lost and no change to the chest being made. Only users with permissions granted to chests may break their blocks also.In addition to this behaviour users are able to set custom permissions on their chests - either one by one or on a global level using the following commands. These permissions may only be changed by the owner of the chest. Code:/chestperms [groups=<group names>] [users=<user names>]/cp [groups=<group names>] [users=<user names>]/chestpermsall [groups=<group names>] [users=<user names>]/cpa [groups=<group names>] [users=<user names>] These will allow you to grant permission to the groups/users you specify to access and modify your chests. The first command (/chestperms) changes the permissions for the chest you are pointing at. The second command (/chestpermsall) changes the permissions for all of the chests owned by you. The 'groups' and 'users' parameters are both optional, however you must specify at least one for any change to be made. They take a comma-delimeted list as a value. You may use the '*' character to indicate access to all users, or simply provide an empty parameter to reset the permissions to default (only owner can use). Here are some examples of these commands in use. Code:/chestperms groups=admins/chestpermsall users=Pawned,Jirx/chestperms groups=admins users=Pawned/chestperms groups=* users=*/chestperms groups= users=
Dateranoth
I have to recommend this to everyone!http://minecraftam.com/It's a working Minecraft Minimap. It installs locally so it works fine with the server. The overall map is a little buggy in SMP so I'm not recommend it be used. However, I do have http://minecraft.gamercide.org tracking players again. So, between that and MinecraftAM you can find your way around anywhere. The minecraftAM tracks underground as well. It's pretty sweet and something worth checking out.
Dateranoth
I just wanted to post and say this is pretty awesome. I've found connecting tunnels to just about everything. I started in my castle mine and am currently under Ebil's Bunny. All without breaking blocks.
Dateranoth
Sorry I was a little behind. Notch rolled out an update and the mod is now updated as well. Looks like he's staying on top of things AND now easy integration of texture packs. A few of the plugins for the main mod are a little buggy. Everything seems to be working except the chest protection. I can't really test it, but it is buggy.-EDIT-Chest protection seems to still be broken. Going to disable it until a fix is out.-EDIT 2-On a final note. Even though it says minecarts are working, they don't seem to be removeable still. I still can't even remove them with some of the super admin tools I have installed. So, use them at your own risk.
