***Game Deals Thread***

Dat will be proud, I got The Witcher 2. This sale has bad timing though, I'll be gone all day Saturday and Sunday for camping, and most of the day on Tuesday. I'll still probably be able to check out the dailies for Fri Mon and Tues though. I might even try to see if I can log into the Steam website on my brother's iPhone during the weekend to check out the daily deals lol. You can get some awesome games for under $20 or even $10 on the sales like this.

As for the publisher packs, I have most of the main games I want out of most of them.

Although I HIGHLY recommend that anyone that doesn't already have more than a handful of Valve's games, GET THE VALVE COMPLETE PACK. $50 for every single game, including the Half Life and Left 4 Dead games, and even Portal 2, which is an amazing game and totally worth $50 on it's own.

These deals are freaking awesome, as usual with these special event sales. I'm so glad I was able to login with my brother's iPhone yesterday, because they had Transformers War for Cybertron and Two Worlds II cheap.

Today I recommend Trine as a decent why-the-hell-not-it's-only-two-freaking-dollars platformer, and the Doom pack for $8.70, mostly for Doom 3 and it's expansion, which were awesome (even if you don't care for the older more pixely Doom games, 3 was awesome). Or you could do just D3 and it's expansion, but its only a dollar less lol.

Ah snap, Gothic bundles on sale today.

Gothic Universe Edition (Gothic 1, 2, and 3) for $5.74

http://store.steampo...d.com/sub/6375/

or

Gothic Complete Pack (First 3, plus the standalone expansion for 3, and 4) for $18.74

http://store.steampo...d.com/sub/7653/

I highly recommend the series, as I played them all not long ago in an awesome streaming marathon. If you want a new RPG series to try and you're not willing to drop the $18 on something new, just get the $6 pack that has the first 3 games. Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods and Arcania: Gothic 4 are totally optional, as they aren't even made by the same developer. G3FG was kind of boring, being basically just the exact same thing as G3, but with less of the map available and a different story leading into the new game, Gothic 4. Gothic 4 was an alright game, but again, not really essential to the Gothic experience. The thing I enjoyed most about 4 was the combat, as the game was fairly linear compared to the older ones. Still, G3FG and A:G4 are worth the $13 extra. If nothing else, Gothic 4 had great graphics and fun combat.

As for the older games, 1 and 2 are archaic looking, but if you get them give them a chance, they still hold up really well today in terms of gameplay. I recommend cheating and boosting your stats in 2 though, as it comes with the (nonremovable) expansion pack that makes it insanely hard without any lower difficulty options (it's clearly designed for veterans). Not very fun for new players to the series, but a great game otherwise. lol

Also,

GTA IV Complete for $10

http://store.steampowered.com/app/901583/

and

Batman: Arkham Asylum GotY for $7.50

http://store.steampowered.com/app/35140/

are great deals as well.

Just bought Prototype today. I am not a huge GTA person (even though I know people here will try to convince me otherwise) and did not like the Gothic 4 Demo that much.

I can hear the chorus of ten thousand Gothic fans facepalming simultaneously lol. Though not all that bad in my opinion (but hated on by most Gothic fans), 4 is very different, don't judge the older ones too much based on it.

You would seriously be lynched on a Gothic forum if you said the Gothic series didn't look that great because you didn't like the demo for 4 lol.

Fortunately for our wallets, the final day of the Steam sale is just a repeat of the best and most popular deals.

Magicka complete pack for $8.50 (or the base game for a bit over just $3. The only really good DLC for this game is the Vietnam one, unless you are really into the arena or PvP modes)

http://store.steampo...d.com/sub/8556/

Two Worlds 2 for $17 (awesome looking sequel to the clunky but surprisingly enjoyable first game. Has a magic system some say is almost like Magicka's!)

http://store.steampo...d.com/app/7520/

There's also Borderlands GotY for $7.50, GTA IV complete for $10, Just Cause 2 for $5, Portal 2 for $25, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood for $20, The Witcher 2 for $33, Fallout New Vegas for $15, and a few others.

I'd almost get Assassin's Creed Brotherhood again since it comes with all the maps and exclusive characters, but I have the base game on 360 already. But it would probably be cheaper to get it on Steam with the DLCs, than to just buy the DLCs on their own for my 360 version lol. I think I'll just get the game Ninja Blade while it's on sale for $10 and be done with the sales already.

224. This has to stop.

238 and I only seriously started buying games on Steam last December when I got my new computer. I checked and I literally have a game for every letter of the alphabet on Steam now lol. Though some items listed are actually just DLC or expansions. For instance, the Sam and Max games should be 3 items in my opinion, not 15ish. One for each season with a sub-menu to choose the episodes. I know folders can be made, but I dislike how they are automatically placed at the top and can't be moved, and are hard to edit.

I think I really will start writing up that article on game hoarding at some point. I know I have at least 4 of you people that I could probably get quotes from: Dat, Sky, Assassin, and Sedington. But the question is, what will the point I'm making be? Just pointing out the problem? Shaking a fist light-heartedly at Steam for it's simultaneously awesome and fiendish sales? It might be from a somewhat humorous angle.

The only thing "crap" about Saint's Row 2 in my opinion was the incredible touchiness and apparent lack of any kind of realistic physics while driving. It was wonky, when compared to something realistic and with good physics like GTA IV. Otherwise it was a fun game if you enjoy it for what it is without taking it too seriously. Saint's Row is basically the wackier version of GTA. And in 3 it looks like they're going all out with the crazy stuff to do.

As for your list of games, I don't really have much opinion on it, I'm not a day 1 gamer at all anymore lol. Only one I'd preorder on your list is AC:R.
