PeeKnuckle
It looks like some specs from both new consoles from Sony and Microsoft are hitting the net.XboxState of the art 16-core IBM Power PC CPU with a graphics processor on par with AMD's Radeon HD 7000-series graphics cardsPlaystationCustom chips based on AMD's A8-3850 APU and Radeon HD 7670 GPUWith those in mind, what exactly are your thoughts on a new console? Are you ready to jump right in, or have you contemplated switching to PC gaming? Do you think this current cycle is ready to be over? Do you think the games for these new consoles will go up in price?[Source of specs - CVG]
Skylark95
PC gaming. It is an expensive startup for buying the hardware but does pay off in the end as you get exactly what you want instead of what is decided for a console's hardware. Games are cheaper too (And that better not change when new consoles come out). I forsee a 500 to 600 dollar price tag for the next xbox too. Consoles are just going to keep getting more and more expensive to the point where it will be just as cost beneficial to by a new pc. Well that was a lot to type on my cell but it is safe to say I will not be getting the next console.
CHINESE BABOON
I don't plan on buying the next console. I think it's smart for Microsoft to start designing/planning the next generation console but I think it's irrational for them to release it soon considering the current console has plenty of untapped potential and consumers are demanding very little innovation/improvements on the current console. PaNfOoT
PC gaming for me, already made the switch, and I'm happy with my huge library of games, not being charged extra for online, and not completely terrible interface(I really, really hate the xbox dashboard). Faperture
The way things are going with consoles these days, I'm probably done with them. Sick of getting nickel and dimed every chance they get.
PeeKnuckle
Looks like a big fat no from everyone who replied. Are the console makers concerned with our opinions, or do you think they're more interested in winning the next console war? CHINESE BABOON
The industry is changing. For years, hardcore gamers were the primary audience for gaming companies and they had to cater to their preferences. Now, the industry is saturated with fairweather gamers more then ever, to the point where I don't think gaming companies even have gamers in their interests. They know that there's enough spoiled brats with parents out there that no matter what they release, some 13 year old kid will want the new xbox, playstation, nintendo ect that their parents will buy it for them regardless of its new capabilities. This is best demonstrated for instance in the influx of DLC for games on launch or released later with outrageously pricey price tags, if COD releases a new map pack, they know regardless of content enough suckers will buy it regardless. Dateranoth
Always have been a PC gamer for the most part, but I will likely end up with the next console. I doubt it will be launch, and I certainly am not looking forward to them.

Really the biggest 360 games for me over the past couple of months have been dark souls(which is getting a PC port now) and the HD collections of MGS and Silent Hill, which are just PS2 ports. I can't think of a single 360 game I'm looking forward to that I wouldn't rather just play on the PC(honestly don't care about Halo 4). DLC is definitely a big part of it too for me, I've found myself just completely loss interest in games if pre-order DLC is announced now, and just going back and playing old games I missed. That and not being that into multiplayer games at the moment(except for TF2), I've totally lost the console mindset of having to keep up with all the new releases, I haven't even bothered to by Skyrim yet. Avahra
I haven't really been into consoles for a while, but if the rumors of them not allowing pre-owned games being used, and constant internet acccess is true, then I def won't want any part ofthat
eminutia
I don't know, games used to give me a boner but now it's like everyone's becoming a gamer and bringing all of the drama and a burned-at-the-stake attitude, which is a big turnoff. This thread gives me a hard-on though. Thanks PK, I'll keep you updated on my opinions, but I'm happy playing my little multiplayer games with friends.
Kevnvek
This console generation is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The digital marketplaces are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their greed and profiteering will foam up about their waists and all the new consoles will look up and shout "Buy us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "no."Ahem. Yeah I'm a PC convert. There'd have to be a lot of damn good exclusive games to make me buy a pricy new console at this point.
Kira Onime
Idk...... def not getting launch console....I mean.. ffs, I'm still on the old 360 with a 20 gb HDD and works perfectly fine. Also, the "have to be connected to the net all time" and other BS is a turn off. PeeKnuckle
That's my problem with this new era of consoles. Has there really been big strides in technology that warrant a new console? We all remember the leap from PS2 to PS3 and Obox to Xbox 360. I honestly don't think we'll see much improvement in graphics or tech that says we need new consoles. They'll probably tack on some 3D aspect, but I couldn't give a fig about 3D.It's been shown that these current consoles are being used more and more for media (Netflix), than multiplayer gaming. http://www.theverge.com/2012/3/27/2905923/xbox-live-entertainment-overtakes-multiplayer-gaming-stats
CHINESE BABOON
I don't have Netflix but my room mate does and you summed it up PK, we use Netflix more then anything else. I don't think I've played a game on my 360 for a few weeks bar playing Skyrim once for about 15 mins and then turning it off.
