Kevnvek
Anyone else complete 1st dlc mission, and cant add new party member to mission party?I just recruited him last night but stopped there. I'm guessing he's like Ashley/Kaiden, unable to join you until enough missions have gone by. In his case, he's recharging his energy or something. The game is pretty awesome so far, but I can't help but notice some incredibly retarded/awkward things Bioware put in it, like they're really trying hard to make things uncomfortable. The reporter chick and James both looking like they came from Jersey Shore, and don't even get me started on (don't open the spoiler unless you've completed Palaven, you'll want to see it for yourself lol) EDI's new body. What. The f*ck. When I casted ME2 I was joking that she would be become a romance option, and now that she kind of is (she's freaking trying to sexually attract joker), it's completely retarded. Not to mention the incredibly dumb look. If they just got rid of that stupid metal hair she might not look so weird.I'm going to still use spoiler tags in this thread. I'm interested in talking about the game, but it's such a long game that people could only be partway through it when they want to discuss something in here. LGWyant
Agreed, and thanks kev. Now that you said that I kind of remember that being said in the dialog.I did that mission first, and havent gotten much further yet. I did make the mistake of checking out the art book from the colletors edition... They should have said spoilers inside, lol.

Only spoiler I saw (and recognized) fortunately was A concept of TIM as half reaper, that they say they didn't use, and another image of him with cybernetic implants, looking like a husk. Not sure what it means, but still kind of a spoiler.

LGWyant
Is anyone else having problems with the target range in csec? every time I try to open the door, It freezes during loading. Only time it happens, and its every time ive tried entering the door, am I missing anything by not getting in there?
Kevnvek
Nah, there's not really anything interesting in there. There are three targets that have refilling health/armor/etc. and can be moved back and forth that are basically just there to test how your weapons affect health/armor/shields, and their accuracy.I'm starting to have a huge problem with this game. With the sh*tty quest log in particular. All quests give you one simple paragraph that never updates, and barely tells you where you're supposed to go. The map is pretty bad too, only giving you general directions to people who may or may not be involved in one of your quests (your guess which). I looked for the terminals in the Hanar Diplomat mission for ages before I even was able to look it up and know that the quest was just glitched. And I wanted to do that quest too, since it involved Kasumi. The main story is still good, but the broken sidequesting and all the awkward sh*t are starting to ruin the game for me.On the other hand, I tried the multiplayer last night and didn't hate it, I started to have some fun. I got the Readiness all the way to 100%. I still loathe the idea that it ties into singleplayer, but the gameplay and cooperation were fun. Kinda shady that they ask for money to get items easier though. I played the human male infiltrator. It was cool to get to try a different skillset than singleplayer, turning invisible and freezing all of the enemies, before shattering them with a sniper rifle.I'm still probably going to review this game, and it might not be pretty. It's still good overall, but some parts of it just really bring it down.
LGWyant
I love/hate that they tied mp into the single player... On one hand its immersive and cool, on the other you're sol if u dont have mp... I was thinking the same thing with the side quests, I was expecting to be able to select which mission for the game to direct me around to, instead theyre all vieing for importance and bring up a blue indicater when youre close. One mission in particular tells you the region a quest objective planet is in... But not the system or galaxy... Been able to muddle through so far, but it can be grating. Kevnvek
Yeah I'm pretty much going to put in my review that, the core game is still great, going main mission to main mission. It's the sidequesting that's terrible. Formulaic, overhear conversation, randomly find the thing with your magic space scanner, return. At this point I only do them because I'm a completionist/OCD and they are required to get more War Assets for a better ending. The main missions though, where stuff is actually happening, are still awesome, with more budget being put into the design/story/etc.Honestly this isn't all that new, Mass Effect 1 had a fairly poor sidequesting system. Excusing all the walking, the Citadel sidequests weren't bad, but all of the space missions ended up being mostly the same thing, driving across a huge open space, taking out the raider/geth camp, entering a little cave area and killing the rest, maybe talking to someone or getting an item along the way.I thought it had been fixed in Mass Effect 2, though. ME2 had some of the same run around and talk to people quests, sure, but most of the side missions were actually pretty cool. The planetary ones, specifically. Excusing the boring scanning system, once you found an anomaly and scanned it, you could go to a side mission that had its own completely unique set pieces. A whole area made just for that side mission, plus there were a good amount of them. It was a nice improvement over the samish sidequests of ME1. Now ME3 barely even has those, just mostly finding stuff with the boring scanning and returning to the Citadel./end rant^there's an entire couple paragraph preview of how my review will be lol^
ThermoNukePanda
Holy sh*t, I JUST found out last night that the multiplayer is directly tied to the singleplayer.BULLSH*T. I thought it was bad enough with the DLC, but this is definitely going way over the line when it comes to ******* the consumer. 1) Do you want the best ending possible in the game? Well tough, you are forced to play multiplayer to achieve this.2) Do you want to play multiplayer? Well you absolutely have to have an EA Online pass.3) You've rented the game or purchased it used? Want to see the best ending? No. Why you ask? Cause EA/Bioware says f*ck you, that's why.Kevin, rip this game apart. Don't feel bad about it either. I can't remember what game I reviewed in the past that I absolutely gave a thrashing to, but just do it. I thought ME2 was pretty dumbed down and this is even worse. ThermoNukePanda
Also, why does EDI (an android) have crazy cameltoe, but only when you put her in the Miranda outfit?
Kevnvek
From what I hear it's possible to get enough points to get the best ending without doing multiplayer, it's just harder to do with all of your points being half value. It is bullsh*t. What was also garbage was how I couldn't load any of my saved games while my internet's been down (it's been down on and off lately) thanks to EA wanting to verify the Online Pass and From Ashes DLC every time I play.Don't get me wrong, I don't think this game is completely terrible and will not "tear it apart" in my review. Basically the main quest and its missions are still awesome. But everything else, all the other little things, really hold it back. Terrible sidequesting, many of them being outright broken, evil schemes like multiplayer tie-in, the most corny, awkward romance in the series so far (the robot character I won't name, WTF).It'll be more a "if you could just play the main game and ignore the side stuff it's cool, but wtf happened Bioware?" review. The side stuff is necessary to get a better ending, even. I will definitely point out its flaws, because it's a step back from the progress made in ME2, like what I said about ME2's sidequests. ThermoNukePanda
I also hate the journal and how it handles quests. It doesn't tell you jack squat. I feel the interaction between and with the companions are super lacking IMO. It's just so much of a disconnect I feel in this game compared to previous entries. *sighs*It's still an alright game I suppose but I just don't feel the magic anymore. ThermoNukePanda
the most corny, awkward romance in the series so far (the robot character I won't name, WTF).I'm confused. What robot romance? Put it in spoilers. lolAnd also it's pretty much next to impossible to get the best ending without multiplayer. Does anyone know what the MAX amount of resources you can get is? I hear you need like 4-5k to get the best ending, and at 50% readiness without doing multiplayer I just don't see that happening.
Kevnvek
EDI gets a new (dumb looking) robot body and starts a romance with Joker that seems to have come straight out of a 12 year old's fan fiction of the game.Ignoring the fact that she's a 2 ton robot and he has brittle bones. At least Shepard pointed it out in one line of dialog, for all the good it did.And I think I mentioned the quest log in here before as well. One paragraph that never updates, and barely even tells you what to do to begin with.
LGWyant
Finished the game and replayed the last level to check out all three choices... Is it just me or were they almost exactly the same? And whats with the aftet credits clip? Are they trying to say there'll be another story arc? Is it just me or were they almost exactly the same? And whats with the aftet credits clip? Are they trying to say there'll be another story arc?Just a way to leave it open for DLC. A way to give the game a way to let you keep playing with out screwing up the story arc. Also, I finished the game without increasing the Galaxy at War rating. The only thing that matters is war assets, and there were plenty to get me maxed out. I was glad to know I didn't have to play multiplayer to do it. Also, as far as the robot romance, I think you're missing the point behind it Kevin.
LGWyant
What were your war assets? Mine were 3800 the first time, but gonna restart from illusive man siege stage, got like 4300 now.
Dateranoth
3220 I believe. The assessment said my chances were even.
ThermoNukePanda
To get "the best" ending in Mass Effect 3 you need over 4,000 war assets. If your Galactic Readiness is at 50% this means you would need to round up over 8,000 to break the 4k mark without playing multiplayer. That is one of my beefs with the game. You don't necessarily "need" to play multiplayer, and you can get over the "minimum" to complete the game but there are multiple endings. And to answer LG's questions about the possible other story-arc, I think you're right. I was positive I read somewhere that this was the end of Shepard's story and they wanted to do something else with the universe. I'll look around for it.
