Tritton Gaming Headset

So under PK's recommendation I set out upon the world and got myself a new Tritton headset. I must say it is one of the best purchases I have made in awhile lol. Thank you PK! The sound quality is amazing. Now I don't feel so compelled to buy a home theater system one day.

The ones I got are the Tritton AX 720. I went mid grade because head sets cost way more than I thought they would. It's weird that it never crossed my mine as a must have. Now I can mute the TV and play my games in full sound without bugging anyone. They also work on any console and my Mac!

I am very happy with the ones I got and recommend getting something even if you go a little cheaper than I did. It really changes the game for me. Battlefield Bad Company 2 is like a whole new game to me now. I can hear footsteps, bullets coming from all directions and even the wind whistling by lol. The explosions are awesome. The sound quality plus the controller vibration makes me feel like I am really there! That game has some of the best sound effects that I never really got to hear before.

What are you waiting for? Go get a headset!

Or left 4 Dead. Totally changes up the game for you. You'll know where and when a special infected has spawned in. Kill that Smoker behind the tree before he has a chance to shoot his tongue at you.

Glad you like them, man. Nothing immerses you more, than good surround sound. I find it hard to play without them now, since TV speakers just don't cut it for me.

Yah its awesome, I am excited to pop all my games in one by one and see how it sounds lol. This is a must have for me from now on. It really is total immersion. When I put these babies on the outside world does not exist haha.

My wife said "Oh, I see you finally found a way to totally tune me out" Heck yah HAHA! She can't complain though now. The TV won't bother her at night anymore.

She'll complain, the second you enter into a LIVE party or MP game. When you can't hear yourself talk, you don't realize you're yelling. I've woken up Carla a number of times and she gets so pissed. On the other side, my son has woken me up before when he was using them. So yeah, keep that in mind at all times. lol

I love my Tritton Ax Pros, 8 speakers with true surround sound, but they were a bit on the pricey side. I'm sure you'll enjoy the 720s, I hear good things about them. It makes a HUGE difference in first person games, hearing a noise and being able to point your camera right at it (and shoot it if necessary lol). You may get used to it and not really notice, but once you try playing without them, you will really be able to tell the difference.

Your right lol. With it cranked you can't hear yourself talk. I love it though. The cool thing is you can adjust two kinds of volume.

I was watching a movie with it on last night while everyone was asleep. It's like your really in the theater or something lol.

If your serious about gaming, or just really like your games to sound nice then a headset is seriously needed.

I'll never go back to just listening through my TV when I'm playing shooter. My headset is my best pal :)

Right now I have a cheap surround sound system that I picked up form Target a few years back, but I'm thinking about getting some Trittons. Which would y'all suggest? The AX 720s or the AX PROs? I know the Pros have true surround sound, and the 720s just simulate it, but is it really noticable?

Hey Bacon,

I know the AX Pro's are probably better than the 720's. I think they have something like 8 speakers. That said, I know with the 720's I can hear footsteps and it sounds good enough to where I can figure out what direction it is coming from. The gunfire, explosions, and mayhem all sound amazing. I think it comes down to price though. I say get what you can afford. The AX Pro's are around $180 I think vs. the AX 720's at $129.99.

The 720's were in my budget and readily available up the road at my local game shop so I didn't have to wait. This review on amazon sold me on the them:

If you are willing to spend up to the $180 on the Tritton's Pro's I think you owe it to yourself to check out Astros as well before you buy. They have some really sweet looking headsets that if I could afford probably would of went with instead. That A40 looks good:

Astro A40

I love the AX 720 so far though. You really can't go wrong with them for the price. The only negative I can think of so far is the way it plugs into the xbox controller. You only need to do that if you want to use the mic but they could of put an attachment or something to hold it more securely as to avoid the little static crackle you can get occasionally from moving in your chair while playing. It does not happen too often and is not loud or anything so is a pretty minor gripe. It should not discourage you from getting them but I honestly think it's not the headset but rather the controller at times. This only ever happens if you plug the headset into the controller though. No big deal really.
