Life Update - Overdue as Hell

Also, damn, my hair is short again and I have to update my profile pic. XD If I had forgotten to change it last time to long, it would be accurate again.

Life Update - Overdue as Hell

(Why did I never reply to this from a year ago?) Associate's degrees from community college. English AA, Drama AA, and Elementary Teaching Prep AA (this one was something I figured I may as well get as I got it with my general requirements by taking certain ones). On that note, Berkeley is going fantastic for me. I'm declared in the English major and Creative Writing minor. This semester (which just finished, hence I'm back home for the summer) was awesome, I had classes on Folklore, Mythology, H. P. Lovecraft, and English literature 1750-1850. The first semester (last fall) I had an intro to creative writing, medieval literature, Novel to Film (Hitchcock), and Intro to Rhetoric, and next upcoming semester (Spring 2019) I have two more writing classes, English lit 1850-1950, and either a Rhetoric of New Media (study video game, chat room, modern storytelling and structure), Utopian Dystopian Film, or English Honors Thesis part 1 if I get accepted. I may just audit that film course to sit in it and discuss but not have to do the assignments, and not be in 20 units lol. I've been doing 17 or 16 units. You guys still on Discord or somewhere? I need to check in. I'll probably game a bit this summer, maybe even stream, but I'm also going to read a lot. I've barely been gaming at all, but I don't really miss it since reading for classes and for fun has become my main hobby.

    Movie Night = Success!

I would like to check this out. If my girlfriend didn't have such crappy internet, I'd use it to watch stuff with her.

    Horizon Zero Dawn

I've been playing this and really enjoying it recently as well. Probably going to finish it tonight, actually. Very Hard difficulty, and basically no stealth. The part I have the most trouble (and annoyance) with is bandit camps and human enemies in general because of their precision and numbers, but jumping around in slow-mo helps. I love the combat with the machines though. I use melee, dodgerolls, tearblast arrows, and basically all kinds of stupid fighting methods I shouldn't be using on the harder difficulty lol. It is fun to just keep dodging just out of claw range then knocking the giant robots over with a little wooden stick, after blowing off their guns haha. Story-wise, I love it. Great speculative fiction and interesting twists. I have Frozen Wilds and will play through that after, but aside from maybe a couple smaller games on my PS4, I'll be done with gaming for a bit again until after my semester. I have a lot of readings to get through. I agree that I'm starting to hate the crafting/open-world trend in games too, but even then I still went around and maxed out all the ammo carry capacities last night. I just wish you could make the stuff from hunting machines, the animals are boring compared to them.

I would get a Switch if I had a proper income and it was on sale. It seems like a great console/handheld hybrid. I hope they port Wii U Smash Brothers to it and/or release a new one for it, because there's no way in hell I'll get a Wii U (even for Bayonetta 2, which I hear is porting to Switch eventually with Bayonetta 3, anyways). I mean, I do have it on 3DS, but it's hard to multiplayer with that. Other players need their own 3DS and a copy.

    Still Around ?

I've been busy with life and Berkeley, but I'm just poking my head in as well. Sorry I've been away for a while again. I briefly dropped in in August but never really came back until now. :/

GTA V Zombie Apocalypse Multiplayer Mod

This does look pretty cool. I miss GTA nights as well. I would try to join and such while I'm home for a couple more weeks, but after I finish the game I'm on (Horizon Zero Dawn) I should really focus on reading. I'm a couple books in to the 23 books I'll have to read for my spring semester haha. I'm going to be in Mythology, Folklore, H. P. Lovecraft, and English 1750-1850. If I'm gonna drown in books, that's the way I wanna go lol.

    Movie Night = Success!

By what means are you guys watching movies together? Is there finally something similar to Netflix groups? I miss that.
  9. So, I apologize, but I've been meaning to make a post for some time now, but always doing other stuff. There's a lot going on in my life. I need to check in here more often. But anyways, I guess I'll do this bullet point style. Probably the coolest thing, I graduated from my community college in the Spring, getting three degrees with distinction and am transferring to UC Berkeley. I move on Monday. I'm going as an English major with a possibility of switching to Rhetoric. I also want to take at least one acting class if I have time. I have a girlfriend I've been dating for nearly five and a half months now, the longest I've ever been with one (there were only one or two before, but still). We click amazingly well mentally, especially since she has aspergers like me. So, we understand all of each other's quirks. It's not a very physical relationship, even after all this time, but we're getting there. It's harder for people like us, and with her it's like dealing with a younger version of myself before I managed my symptoms and reactions as well as I do now. We'll be long distance while I'm at Berkeley, but we'll make it work. I'm still gaming, but it's sporadic. Most of this summer I've been doing all kinds of stuff to get ready for Berkeley. I did buy an awesome $1000 gaming laptop though, so I'll have access to all of my PC stuff while I'm there (when I have time, mostly nights). The Acer Helios 300. The thing has a GTX 1060 in it and can run GTA V pretty much maxed out at 1080p, I'm pretty happy with it lol. Oh, uh my hair is super long again. I immediately realized I need to update my profile picture when I logged in. Not much else changed. I still look 5-10 years younger than I should because of all of the blood of the inno---the good genes, yeah, we'll go with good genes. I got into a trading card game called Magic the Gathering and was playing weekly with a group of friends, though I won't be able to now that I'm moving. I may try to find players at Berkeley. There will be a card shop across the street, but I also am going to be tight on money lol. On that note, I have fantastic financial aid. I got what's called a Blue and Gold scholarship, so I'm basically fully covered on tuition and living (in a campus owned apartment, two blocks from campus, with a private bedroom and only two roommates). I am not throwing away my shot (and yeah I got super into the musical play Hamilton). Not sure what else to update, or what I shared before. I guess just ask if you have any other questions. Where is best to reach you guys on voice chat? Don't even remember what app to use. Teamspeak? Mumble? gd it's been a while.

    What are you listening to?

Ensiferum just released a new album. Finnish folk metal, they're pretty cool.

    Elder Scrolls Online Pre-Order Available

I feel the same way about it. I've only played it a bit and gotten to about level 3 or 4 and not even far enough to leave the island I was started on (after you get out of the initial location; being unspecific for the NDA). It just kind of feels like there's not a whole lot to do, and what there is, is too easy. The combat is incredibly easy. I'm used to playing TES games on at least hard to get the sense of the world actually being big and dangerous, and monster/bandit/dragon/etc. encounters actually being something to be wary of. I even did a quest to banish an ancient evil body possessing spirit and it didn't feel as epic as it should have, what with all the dialog. Just kill a few skeletons then activate a couple switches to kill the boss. I'll give it one more chance in a couple hours tonight while the beta is still live, but then I'm going to play some more Ni No Kuni.
  14. The main games have a pretty intricate and deep story, even with all of the weird little things that they throw in. Metal Gear Rising was a little different and more into the future of the series in terms of technology, and quite a different style of game from the usual. This DLC sounds stupid to me though. One of those useless "it was all just a dream" sort of things. There were weird things in the series, but never blatantly aliens and time travel.

If anyone gets Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn while it's half off, I'm making a character on the Gilgamesh server. I know, I know. I usually don't MMO. But I want to try this one since I love Final Fantasy and have heard good things. http://www.greenmangaming.com/search/?q=realm+reborn&platforms=pc
