FL cops raid the person their new bill is named after

On Monday, the Miami Herald posted an article about rising support for legalized medical marijuana in the state of Florida. The article mentioned an pro-pot activist named Cathy Jordan, who uses the drug to mitigate the symptoms of Lou Gehrig's disease. The article mentioned Sen. Jeff Clemens (D-Lake worth), who is sponsoring a bill to legalize the drug. That bill is named after Jordan.

The Bradeton Herald now reports that just hours after that article ran, a team of ski-mask-clad deputies from the Manatee County Sheriff's Department staged a guns-drawn raid on Robert and Cathy Jordan's home. According to Robert Jordan, the cops seized 23 marijuana plants, including the two mature plants his wife uses to treat her illness. They made no arrests.

Makes me sick that they stormed their house with guns drawn and ski masks on. It's a woman who relies on a wheelchair and her 64 year old husband. They knew they didn't need their weapons drawn, but they were making an example out of Cathy. This is flat out bullying and it needs to stop.

You can also check out Cathy's YouTube page -  She's a wonderful woman who is going through a lot. Typically, you're given around 3-5 years of life expectancy after being diagnosed with Lou Gherig's Disease. Cathy's working on 26 years since she's been diagnosed. A truly remarkable achievement.

I wanted to note something in case anyone read "23 plants" and thought that was a bit excessive. If she is using the Phoenix Tears treatment of cannabis, or something similar, you need a lot of plant matter to make that medicine. Law enforcement likes to highlight these types of cases since the general public isn't knowledgeable about it. An example would be something like this - We support the use of medical cannabis, but this 65 year old woman couldn't possibly smoke or ingest the amount of cannabis she had at her home.". They're right in a sense, unless you are referring to a person who is using a Phoenix Tears sort of treatment.

Everyone knows it was a chance for a larger raid and god knows that anyone reading the artical didnt get to the part where shes in a wheelchair. Nobody gets past name and what and how much anymore. Ski masks and weapons were for the news crew there filming

Luckily, no arrests were made, but the case is being reviewed by the state attorney’s office.

The bill’s sponsor, Sen. Jeff Clemens, was not amused:

Clemens said Monday he was angry about the raid on the Jordan house.

“Do we want to be the kind of state that raids the home of a

woman in a wheelchair in order to enforce outdated laws?” Clemens said

Monday night.

“My wife is not happy,” Jordan said. “It really upset her. I am very
protective of my wife. She can’t feed herself. She got really upset and
started crying. None of this should have happened.”
