Twiztid Rose
Shane has been in talks with Loves Truck Stop for a little bit now, about relocating. They are everywhere! Well the guy had originally offered him a position in Ellensburg, WA. I liked the idea of WA, but it snows too much in that particular location, and with Shane driving a truck we aren't too keen on that. So we kept looking. We really liked the idea of OR, but the positions were full. Obviously we wanted Arizona first, because of my parents and of course my sister, but its also full.Well this morning the guy called and offered him a position in Fort Worth, TX. The guy even said he'd talk his boss into moving us (which is essential!!). We have done some web searches of the area, and got a rough idea. But we really no squat about Texas. I was really hoping we had a gamercider from or in Texas that could give me the scoop.... Thanks for the help!
Super Kev
I'll talk to Tam about it .. the place where she works in Manhattan has an office in Texas. She might be able to give you some advice or maybe put you in touch with someone there.

green grenades
I hope you like Mexicans. I've been through Texas 5 or 6 times but only to Fort Worth twice, that is the only things I had a problem with. Everyone tells me that that the Dallas Fort Worth area is full of crime and it's dirty, but obviously they haven't been to Memphis because every time I've been it's been nice. I think the one good thing about Fort Worth is Dallas is like right next to it.
Twiztid Rose
I hope you like Mexicans.Lol, I live in a town that is predominately mexican. 59.6% are mexican, only 24.1% are white. We like to call it little mexico. Our old neighborhood wasn't so bad, but we moved about a mile away back in March, and we are smack in the middle of several mexican families. So we hear the "aye, aye, aye" (heard eye, eye, eye LOL) music blasted all the time. Drives us BATTY!!! I guess the Texas option is the best bet with getting into this company. They are in desperate need for drivers over there. Which is why they may be willing to move us. Its just such a big move! Its so scary when I stop to think about it. I don't know anyone at all there. But I told Shane I will support whatever he decides. This is actually a list of the areas that were recently hiring. We aren't sure if there are openings in all of the areas still, but some are gone. We've been going over all of them to find out all the info we can about them. We've already marked some of them off our list because of the weather. It eithers snows too much, or gets too damn hot. I would rather not move somewhere that is actually hotter than CA. If I had to choose between hot and cold I'd choose cold. You can put more clothes on, but you can only take so much off lol!! But I don't wanna freeze my *** off either.Anyways, heres the list, gimme ur ideas if you know anything about these places:Ft. Bacon
Got your message Rose. Well... The Dallas-Fort Worth area is rather large. From my experience, it is pretty dirty, but a lot of the nicer areas are really high class. There's deally no middle. It's dirty, or really elegant. The crime isn't too bad from what I've experienced. There is another thing. It's like the sex-shop capital of the the world. nearly every billboard is for a sex-shop of some sort. I'll be glad to answer anymore questions you have, but that'll have to be tomorrow. I really tired tonight. One last thing. Be on the lookout for people who look like rednecks. They're probably some of the nicest people you will meet in Texas. Send me a message on XBL if you have any other questions. I'd love to help out anyone who is about to become a Texan. The heat isn't too bad either. It snows in the winter, but it gets pretty damn hot in the summer, but you get used to it. I'm not too sure, although you can find them if you looked probably. I'm in the Houston suburbs, so yea. Actually, Denton is pretty nice. It's about 30 minutes outside downtown Dallas I believe. Like in the "high class" area of Fort Worth, lol I'm assuming it is. Although we think he could make more money with this job than he is now. They are skimping hours on him over here, over there the guy said they need drivers that would be willing to work 6 days sometimes. We just don't know how much that is for sure, he said around 1600 a week. How far is Denton from Fort Worth? Also whats the weather like over there? Dateranoth
Gary, IN is undoubtedly going to be cold as crap. I lived in Indianapolis, IN and it snowed enough there and Gary is hour north of it. Grayson, KY is about 2 hours east of me ( Lexington ) and I would imagine it's pretty close to nowhere. Not very much in Eastern KY. Though, you're only about an hour from Charleston, WV.Nashville, TN is about 3 hours southwest of me, and I've been in and out of there a lot of times. It's a nice city with quite a bit to do, but like all big cities it has it's good and bad sides. Not been around it enough to know exactly where, but I always did like the place. green grenades
Skip Biloxi, Nashville, Jackson Ms, and West Memphis, Biloxi smells like ****, Nashville is okay if you are passing through, Jackson is trashy, and West Memphis is probably the worst one of them all. Birmingham is actually pretty nice though. I know you are mainly looking at Texas but I'm just putting those just in case.
Super Kev
Hi Rose .. I asked Tam about Texas and the people she works with at the other studio are work and live in Austin, TX. Most really like it there and there's a huge alternative/underground scene and not like the rest of Texas. But that comes at a price so I think it's pretty expensive to live there. Also if you guys do decide to head to Texas I would suggest to pay a little more attention to your kids schools. I don't remember how old your kids are but I'm only bring it because Texas is .. well .. odd when it comes to education. Tam is in Educational Publishing and Texas is doing some very strange things with their state run school programs. I don't remember all the details but the big one is: Thomas Jefferson has been removed from all the history text books and is no longer spoken of in public schools. This could have changed now but last I heard they got rid of him.I saw you have Bordentown, NJ in your list of possible places to move. Tam and I live in Jersey and I google mapped it, and where we are is about an hour away from Bordentown. I've never heard of it or have been in that area but hey .. it's an hour away .. I'll come visit you guys. However moving to Jersey .. I'd think pretty hard on that one. I don't think I would suggest moving your family here since it's pretty difficult because the cost of living is so high. Also the politics in Jersey are VERY corrupt. Corzine was as useless as tits on a bull but Christie seems to think rebuilding the economy in Jersey is to cut all funding for public transportation, freeze teacher salaries and close public schools, and cut funding for libraries (I'll be surprised if ours is still open at the end of the summer). So raising a family in Jersey might not be an easy task. I'll see if I can learn some more about Texas for you.
Mandy
I've been through/to Dunn, NC probably twice I think, my roommate's mama grew up there. It's pretty much just a small city with out too much to do like a lot of places in NC, although I don't think it is an expensive place to live. Bacon
Here's some rental homes in Fort Worth.http://www.rentalhomesplus.com/Results.aspx?page=results&stype=city&city=Fort%20Worth&state=tx&rad=20Also, Denton is 41 miles from Fort Woth. As for the weather, It can get up to the mid-90's I believe in the summer, but in the winter, you get occasional snowfall and it stays fairly cool. I'd say around 50's? I'm not positive on that, but pretty sure.

I'm not positive on that, but pretty sure. Thanks everyone for the posts!! I listed the other locations for your guys' input on them. Thanks Bacon. Yeah we did some more web searches last night for areas surrounding Fort Worth. We looked into a city called Haltom City which is like 10 miles away, which is more along the lines of travel time we want. We basically ruled out Denton, too long a commute. Well, we have more news today. Shane talked to the manager this morning. He has an interview tomorrow. The guy is a manager of some stops here in Cali, but he runs Arizona also, and hes in town to take a test drive with a driver here. So it seems like its all falling in place. We've basically decided that if Julio (the manager) talks the head guys into moving us, that we will take that as our answer. We figure if its supposed to happen then it will all just fall in place. We'll let ya'll know what happens tomorrow. So scary!!! Bacon, I'm sure I will have more Q's for you! Hope I'm not bugging you!
Super Kev
Congrats Rose .. glad to hear things are looking up. I love moving to new places that I've never been, I seem to always thrive on it. Twiztid Rose
You can stalk me anytime Kev. Well the interview went good! Wanna know the main thing? The agreed to pay for the uhaul!! Everything seems to be just falling in place. And I mean EVERYTHING! Not so great of news, but Shanes grandma passed away about a 2 weeks ago, so its been hard. But Shane had asked his uncle yesterday if he could get a loan until he gets his 401K cashed out when he quits, his uncle said he'll figure it out and we'll make it work. Well he called tonight and said he'll know in a few days if grandmas mobile home sells. So it might not even be a loan. They are splitting the money they get for the trailer 3 ways. Which is about as much as the loan would have been, maybe a little more. Everything is falling in place.I can't believe its all happening. We just have to wait for Shanes background check, which will take about 2 weeks or so. Also Julio said by the time that comes in we may know if a spot opens up in the Oregon plant. One of the guys there is screwing up apparantly. So we may even get the place we wanted. But either way we will more than likely be moving!! I'm very excited, but very scared and nervous. With everything good, there always seems to be something bad right around the corner. While Shane was telling me his news, my mom called. My sister hasn't been doing well lately. Sha'e been in the hospital for quite some time now. They did a biopsy on her liver awhile back because it was enlarged, and were worried the cancer had went to her liver. But thank God, it came back fine. Well they did a bone biopsy to see where she was and what her levels were. It wasn't good. 70% of her blood is luekemia. They gave her a 10% chance of making it through this. On our way to Texas we will stop in AZ to see my mom and dad, and sister. But that won't be for like another month and a half. I don't think I will make it to see my sister if she gets worse. It really doesn't look good. Please throw up a dozen or so prayers for my sister.
