Siren
The Playstation 4 is rumored to have been spotted suffering from what is being called the "Red Line of Death" while the display console sat in an unventilated display case during an event where Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was being shown. The supposed photo which appeared in a forum post on Spanish website, Elotrado claims that the PS4 displayed an error message on the TV that said the console was experiencing a high temperature and a red line appeared where it is normally blue. The display PS4 console then shut off, which both the Xbox 360 and PS3 do when the consoles are overheating. The security case was then opened and the error message was removed from the tv, followed by the red light being replaced with it's normal blue color.Sony's Shuhei Yoshida has responded to these rumors when asked over Twitter about the incident by saying, "not true".Whether or not the PS4 does indeed overheat or in this case possibly overheat due to lack of ventilation will be found out when the console releases on November 15th here stateside.via NowGamerand The Sixth AxisClick here to view the article
Kevnvek
Are they kidding? All modern consoles put out a fair amount of heat. Of course it would overheat in a small, unventilated box.
DUBL DUECE
So it sounds like it operated normally when experiencing high heat? How is this an issue? It would be an issue if it kept running then burst into flames. Sounds to me to be SOP when it overheats.

Dateranoth
Yeah, sounds like it was functioning well if anything. Shutting down before an overheat caused catastrophic failure.
