PeeKnuckle
Steam forum members have noticed that there were many things wrong in their Dead Island game. Before this, though, many were complaining about many aspects of the game, including connectivity. I watched for an hour and a half, as Z tried to connect to a 4 player co-op game with his friends. Many key features included in almost all games released currently, were missing. Features such as making lobbies private, or friends only, and no way to kick someone from your game or lobby. Beyond that, it was near impossible to get any kind of connection that would last long enough for a co-op game. Here are some of the threads detailing what the Steam forum members have come across and found.http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2101468http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2101559I feel terrible for the devs if this blunder is true. It'd be a major snafu of epic proportions and has the chance to give them a major black eye that'd be hard to rebound from.

Title
Oh dear. I feel terrible for them - this is going to be hard to come back from.
PeeKnuckle
I feel bad, too. Little dev team barely known, releases major viral hit video trailer and gets big publisher and vaulted into AAA title... only to have this happen. Makes me wonder if they were under a lot of pressure in the final days. The reviewers who reviewed it for PC seemed to have the right copy of the game. So that hasn't really marred the game in that respect.
PeeKnuckle
Looks like it's a fact."We deeply regret that an incorrect version of Dead Island was inadvertently made available to players on Steam launch in North America. We are very sorry for any issues you may have experienced while playing the game - the correct, patched version will be made available to North American players ASAP.Other territories are not affected by this situation, the fully patched game will be available on Friday as announced.2 hours ago"http://deadisland.deepsilver.com/socialmedia.php
Dateranoth
Well. It's a major screw up but I'm happy to see it's merely the wrong build and not just a real release with problems. So many games feel like a beta that this is the better screw up.

PeeKnuckle
Looks like the community is fixing the game faster than the devs themselves.Fix for VoIP in PC game, courtesy of Z.Saturday, September 10, 20116:53 PM - [Z]: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36039/audioproperties.scr6:53 PM - [Z]: ^--- mutes other people in Dead Island, just replace old file (make a backup of course)
