Hey All,

I am considering a return to this game after being away for a long long time. Basically I officially gave it up shortly after Lich came out but was not really even playing much starting when Burning Crusade hit going in and out of a frozen subscription status. I finally, barely made it to 70 on two separate characters though and my fire for this game went out.

I am an original player starting in late 2004. 1-60 was a blast on multiple characters but the expansions never really appealed to me as much as the vanilla game. Cataclysm has peaked my interest since it changed the old world. I really just want to come back to see that. I raided before but was never much into that. Instead I loved to PVP in the different battlegrounds. I never did arena too much but world pvp was fun. Ahhh the fond memories of Southshore back in the day. Most fun ever! My Undead priest was nasty back then. Too bad they normalized it all haha.

So is Cataclysm worth it? I know I would have fun but don't want this to turn into a second full time job again. I can never let that happen again.

Ive stated previously in this thread I personally do not care for the changes to old world. The appeal to the quests this time (well to everyone but me it would seem) is more on the go collect this or go do this instead of go kill 46 raptors and bring me 5 heads. As for the new content themselves its all the same imo. Raiding is not very difficult still, but your not going to one shot every boss when you go in there for the first time either. PvP has changed in the respect of new talent changes (they occurred in wrath not sure if you saw that or not). They have added in two new bgs Battle for Gilneas which is much like Arathi Basin only 3 bases instead of 5. As well as Twin Peaks which is a wsg remake on a new map.

On the lines of is it worth it I guess that depends if you have some where to go. Due to the introduction of the dungeon finder (think lfg channel but it does all the work for you after you click one button), you rarely get to meet people from your own realm and find a guild that way. Although they did recently add in a Guild Finder feature to make up for the problem above but I personally have not messed with that enough to say if it really works or not. Most of the raids are still not puggable for alot of groups (or atleast as far as my knowledge goes) so if you want to see raids happen your gonna need a good guild. Even for pvp unless you plan on just doing bgs and not rated bgs you want a good guild (or atleast find one hell of a group) to run with.

The questing from 80-85 wasnt bad and could be done in a week (8 hours if your hardcore enough). I personally enjoy it and think its worth getting, but then again im not starting all over essentially either. I would definatley give it a try and see where it goes from there though

Thanks Stealthy,

So dungeon finder pairs you with anyone from any realm to run the dungeon with? That is a step above what I experienced. I remember the stones in front of the dungeons that would assist in finding a group but you still had to put the word out over the main channel of the realm you are on and hope to find a group before the day runs out lol.

The good news is I have some level 60's and 70's to work on so I could just come back and travel the old world with them to look around and not have to level 1-85. Not sure I would be up for that anyways. I do want to at least check out the new races even if just briefly.

My Undead Priest is my main that I want to work on again and always was. I love pvp and pvp healing.Crazy enough the guild she was in never removed her and the same person is the still the GM. Its been like 2 years or something lol. We were good friends though. I think I would just focus on leveling to 85 then do some regular BGs to get into the flow. If all goes well I could just go full bore with a pvp team of sorts.

The old questing sucked.

I was maybe 200 quests short from loremaster (so I did a lot of freakign questing) and I hated it. The new quests are much more linear and flow a lto better, and (I can't speak for the horde) I really enjoyed them.
