ThermoNukePanda
So for years and years now I've been using a TELEVISION (LCD) as a monitor for my computer. For a while I was using a 32" Samsung LCD for the monitor but eventually I needed it for a replacement for my TV while I was waiting for my 52" Sony (which I keep in my bedroomo!) to be fixed. The 32" was pretty huge for a PC monitor, but still since it was a 720p TV it didn't support very many resolutions (which is important for PC monitors). I know have this TV hooked up to my PS3 in the living room.In it's place I started to use a 25" Sharp LCD TV w/ built in DVD player. LOL It wasn't very good honestly, and had a decent scuff mark on the upper right of the screen, but it was serviceable. I've been using it for quite some time now, and since I've been playing more games on my PC I've really stumbled a few times with resolution issues. The ONLY resolution it supports is 1024x768 @ 60HZ. It sucks. hahahaSo I splurged a little. Ordered a new PC monitor from Newegg yesterday. I can't wait for it to arrive!! Got it for a pretty great price in my opinion!Nice widescreen LED LCD TV. 24". 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 2 millisecond response time. Plus it has built in speakers so I can use it dual purpose for my PC and my 2nd Xbox 360 console. I'm an excited panda!
ThermoNukePanda
YAY! Order changed to "shipped" today. Coming up from Jersey so it may even be here tomorrow which is awesome. At the latest Monday for sure.*dances*
Dateranoth
Pretty sweet! You'll be needing to upgrade that video card soon too if you wanna play at that resolution
ThermoNukePanda
I know, I'll just be happy to bump up a LITTLE bit from 1024x768. LOL it's been killing mePlus I'm intrigued at how a LED LCD monitor will look/function. 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio makes me think it'll be like staring into the sun though. hahahahaI'm still stoked the monitor only ended up costing about $160 (170 before the mail in rebate)
Dateranoth
No doubt. Very good deal for a 24in. Trust me, you'll be wanting to upgrade soon. Run games full screen at below the monitors resolution and they start to look funny. More downgraded in quality than they should be. Windowed mode will still be fine though. ThermoNukePanda
Run games full screen at below the monitors resolution and they start to look funny. Can't look any worse than 1024x768 on a crappy television that has been beat up and has a HUGE scrape mark on the top left corner of the actual screen ( from being dropped) LoL
Dateranoth
lol. True.

ThermoNukePanda
So does anyone really have any thoughts on the ASUS brand? I've never bought an ASUS monitor before, but the reviews seemed like it was pretty good and the price was right. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Dateranoth
I've never had any ASUS brand monitors, but I'm sure it will do fine. Here is a good site with free monitor testing applications. For gaming you're really most concerned with ghosting. http://tft.vanity.dk/
ThermoNukePanda
I don't think there will be much ghosting since it's only got a 2ms response time, but I'll have to wait and see.
Dateranoth
You'd be surprised. I wish I could find the article, but manufacturers really bend the truth with their numbers. I've seen some very low response times with horrid ghosting issues.I found one similar:http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/specs.htmScroll down to the Response time section and it'll explain what I'm trying to say better. ThermoNukePanda
This monitor, is SO SEXAH!!!I can't say it enough.Only problem is now I will have to mess around with XSplit a little and figure out how to stream NORMALLY. I had PK check it, and it was a super tiny screen I was streaming (even though it was a game windowed at like 1360x768 or something where I dragged around the whole window part to stream just that)I am teh confused. You'll have to help me out on it sometime.but yeah, it looks amazing. Xbox looks amazing. NO GHOSTING. And it's BRIGHT and VIVID. I never would have thought what I was missing, but this is ridiculous the increase in quality/resolution.
Dateranoth
Glad its working out for you! Just let me know when you want to work on streaming and I'll do what I can to help. I imagine your problem is upping the size. In Xsplit, click and drag one corner of the visible screen. Drag it and fill all the black.
ThermoNukePanda
Yeah I think I got it working better last night, or at least PK told me it was working better. I was streaming a bit of VVVVVV last night (which AK gifted me on Steam)
