Skylark95
I have made up my mind. Within the next month or two I would like to build myself a new PC. While I have a pretty good knowledge about PCs, I am not 100% sure how to go about finding all the parts and not missing any.I want this PC to be a medium-high end gaming PC that will be able to run anything on at least medium and last for several years without major upgrades. Money is not a huge issue but I would prefer to be between $800-$1200, but am willing to spend up to $1500. For right now I plan on getting most of the parts off newegg possibly during day after thanksgiving and/or Christmas holiday sells.Specific parts I am looking for are a high end processor and graphics card, and hard drive between 750GB-1TB.Now that I have described somewhat what I plan on doing, is newegg the best way to go and are either of the two holidays good times to buy?I have done some research, but am looking for suggestions. Title
That site looks pretty good for this, I can't really suggest anywhere else since Im not American though I'll whip out some suggestions, don't trust me on all this, Im sure dat with stroll in here and put me to shame. As far as video goes, I have a nvidia GTX 275, have done for a while it it can handle everything I have thrown at it on max. I could find this one on that site you mentioned so I looked for a GTX 460. here and here are two 460's, One is overclocked, I believe, but you can check those out. 460's are better than my card, so you should be fine with one of those. Check everything out though before you buy.If you want to go a lot further in price than one of these is pretty hard to beat, I've heard, but it might not be worth it.With processors, I have a Intel i7 920, which I couldn't find on there either. This one is much better though, and I would say its a good price. It is a 6 core whereas mine is a quad. The hard drives on that site look pretty good, this one is 2TB for $80.With all that you'll need power and a good motherboard but I'll leave that too someone else since it is important.Good luck
Dateranoth
I take it you are starting from scratch? That price will need to include monitor, keyboard, mouse etc?

Dateranoth
Awesome. For that kind of money you should be able to put together a pretty good computer. Newegg is a good place to buy, and Tigerdirect.com has some pretty good deals from time to time too.
Skylark95
Any recommendations on a specific time to buy? I have been talking with other friends and gettings mixed responses.
Dateranoth
Eh, if you are going to buy online then not really. Sign up for the newsletters for tigerdirect and newegg and they'll send you offers all the time. Considering your budget you probably don't need to wait for deals. However, they do have them all the time so it's just a matter of signing up and waiting if you want. Sometimes you can save a lot. Slickdeals.net tracks hardware deals a lot too. Dateranoth
BTW. If you want I can make some suggestions. lol. I was just keeping them to myself until I knew you did.
Skylark95
I'm all open for suggestions. I am still unsure about all the specifics.
Dateranoth
When I get a little time I'll put something together that I would build with that budget. Nothing you should take to heart, but some ideas. The only suggestion I can make at this moment without looking at exact prices is to buy a Solid State Drive for your OS. Hopefully my next PC component purchases will be SSDs. It's to the point where they should be greatly considered.
Skylark95
Right now I am trying to find a good graphics card and center everything else around that. That is proving to be the challenging part because there are so dang many!
Skylark95
Just messing around with some setups to get an idea for what I what. Here is the first one (incomplete) that I took from this ad
Dateranoth
Not bad, but I think you can do better with the budget you have. I don't know that I'll have time tonight, but I'll try and put something together tomorrow for you to look at.

I don't know that I'll have time tonight, but I'll try and put something together tomorrow for you to look at.I plan on putting a little but better graphics card and "maybe" a better processor. I will also try to find a good solid state drive, just juggling what size and brand I should get.

sedington86
Looks like a beast, I need to do a change or two on my pc to get everything out of it, like a solid state drive would be awesome. Dateranoth
Sounds good to me. Everything is looking pretty good. You might want to do some video card comparisons in that price range. I'm not 100% sure that's the best card for the money in that range. Just have to do some review searching.
