Activision's community manager Dan Amrich stated that Crash needs a reason to come back on store shelves and in the hands of gamers and that "fan support is not enough".
"The game needs to have a really good reason to exist, Fan support is not enough to get a game made on the level that you're looking for."
He further concluded that Crash Bandicoot may not even see a console again.
"Now is not the right time for Crash Bandicoot, Will he ever come back? I have no idea."
Crash Bandicoot is one of Sony's more successful video game series with the series altogether selling 40 million units worldwide. 6.3 million units were sold during the release of the original Crash Bandicoot making that game alone Sony's seventh best-selling video game of all time.
