If you were thinking of buying Nintendo's 3DS for your child or little brother or sister, you might want to hold off on that. Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime has released quite a few statements saying that Nintendo's latest DS model which uses 3D technology is not safe for children under the age of 7 who's eye muscles are still not fully developed and that the 3DS can cause them to have headaches and other symptoms because their eyes will have to strain to make sense of the 3D imagery.
In a report by Helium, this announcement made by Fils-Aime might cut Nintendo's demographic field with the 3DS by 60% considering that the handheld is geared more to children in the 5-10 age range. Fils-Aime also stated that they will continue to do more studies on 3D technology in the future.
Nintendo has also recommended that after 30 minutes of gameplay with the 3DS you take a break and that if you were to experience any symptoms of becoming ill or other issues to stop playing, because 3D imagery will effect people including adults in different ways.
Looks like children aren't the only ones who might be effected by this.
