Jyro X
Wasn't sure where this topic might fit best so I apologize if this is in the wrong place. I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread to notify Gamercide crew of awesome gaming deals going on that they may not be aware of via Steam, Humble Bundle, GoG.com, etc etc. I got this idea today when I was looking through the Steam Sales and saw Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition on sale for $7.49 (originally $29.99). This pack includes: Dragon Age: Origins ($19.99)Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Expansion Pack ($19.99)All Nine Content Packs (Prices Vary) That's at least a $40 value for $7.49 and a very awesome game definitely worth a look. The only thing making me hesitant about buying it is the fact that there are no Steam achievements or Steam Cloud support. PeeKnuckle
Thanks, Jyro. We typically put them in this thread.
Kevnvek
Yeah, like PK said we have a pretty big Game Deals thread. Being a PC gamer is the way to go with all the sales. As for the deal, I'd say if you like RPGs at all and are interested, definitely go for it. Dragon Age: Origins was a great game all by itself, and it has a lot of content added to it (though I've only really played Awakening, I'm going to replay it and play 2 for the first time on PC someday). I don't see why lack of achievements would sway anyone from buying a game, especially Steam achievements lol.
Dateranoth
We do have the other thread, but I don't think it would hurt to start a new one. Considering the old one is almost 4 years old. Haha. That is a good deal, and the first DA was really good.
Jyro X
Thanks, Jyro. We typically put them in this thread. Thanks PK! I'll copy this post over there then. Yeah, like PK said we have a pretty big Game Deals thread. Being a PC gamer is the way to go with all the sales. As for the deal, I'd say if you like RPGs at all and are interested, definitely go for it. I don't see why lack of achievements would sway anyone from buying a game, especially Steam achievements lol. I played DA on PS3 back around the time it originally came out. Loved the game then and I've always been an "achievement whore." I love seeing all my little accomplishments in a tidy little list. It's just one of those things that some people love, some people hate, and some people don't care at all about. I for one, do care. And I also care that there's no Steam Cloud support if for whatever reason I lose my saved games or my local copies become corrupted somehow. We do have the other thread, but I don't think it would hurt to start a new one. Considering the old one is almost 4 years old. Haha. That is a good deal, and the first DA was really good. Well I guess I'll just let the crew decide if they want to delete this thread or not. Thanks.
Kevnvek
Oh I understand achievement whoring, believe me. I used to be one. The switch to PC gaming was the beginning of my change in the way I take on games though. I was getting so many games so cheap, that I realized I'd rather just enjoy each one and move on to the next and actually enjoy them for the experience, rather than keep doing the same thing over and over in each game to get every little achievement. That and Steam achievements don't even really give points that tie to a universal system. Steam is starting to integrate them more, but meh. But yeah, basically I cherish good setting and story in a game above all else at this point (escapism, if you will), and hate overly repetitive gameplay or what I see as filler.
