Valve has announced that 300 lucky Steam users are going to be sent a Steam Box prototype free of charge to beta test later on this year. If you want to be in the running, there are some things you must do first.

Before October 25th, make sure to login to your Steam account or create an account and join the Steam Universe Community Group. You must then agree to the the hardware and beta terms, followed by making at least 10 Steam friends. If you already have done all of that then you are one step ahead.

After that you must create a public Steam Community Profile and play a game using a gamepad in Big Picture mode. You must complete all of the items before October 25th, because "the list will be locked".

During this time frame, you can check your beta eligibility by going to your quest page and tracking your current status.

If you are not one of the lucky 300 that get picked, you only have to wait until 2014, because as Steam announced, "there will be multiple SteamOS machines to choose from, made by different manufacturers".

It sounds pretty good,my only question is if you will have to return the steam box prototype or will you be allowed to keep it? If they do allow you to keep it , maybe it could end up being worth lots of money since it was a prototype. Pretty cool, ill try and enter myself. Thanks siren.
