Bethesda's games are very well known for the sheer amount of in-game content included in their titles. The studio has made some of the biggest and most detailed maps in games today, maps that provide hundreds of hours of possible quests. And that's just for one playthrough. I personally have sunk in over two hundred hours into both The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3. But what if I were to tell you that the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls sequel, Skryim, could be completed in 2 hours and 16 minutes?

In an internal competition, the developers raced through the game to see how fast they could complete it. The top two scores were clocked in at 2 hours, 36 minutes, and 2 hours, 16 minutes. The former time is held by a rep from the development team, Jeff Browne, while the latter is held by a representative from Bethesda QA, Sam Bernstein.

However, don't start thinking that Skyrim is actually that short. To begin with, those times are an hour longer than previous record speed runs in Oblivion and Fallout 3 (which was completed in a mere 75 minutes). Also of note is that both record holders are people who know the intricacies of the game mechanics (they'd better since they've been working on it for years), and both took two totally different methods to complete Skyrim, which is a testament to how unique the game's playthroughs will be for each player.

So rest assured, Skyrim will take you at least twice as long to complete than Fallout 3 if you take your time and explore. If you've been living under a rock and don't know why people are excited for the next installment to the Elder Scrolls series, you can head over to the game's main website to find out more about the epic title, slated for release on November 11.
