We should read each others favorites. Looks like they're in the same genre so to speak.

Yeah we should! I have three books to go from Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series and then I'll be waiting for the end of the Wheel of Time Series to finish being released over the next 2 years before I get back into any big series. The Elvenbane is the first of a three part series. I liked the first one the most though. I think I liked them so much because of the different take on dragons that the series had.

AND I can't believe I forgot to add this. It's not a book, but Terry Brook's Shannara series was great. Particularly these six books:

WORD & VOID

The Word/Void Trilogy

GENESIS OF SHANNARA

Genesis of Shannara Trilogy

His books are fantasy with hints of technology, and those 6 tie past and future together in the best way I've seen written. Loved them.

There are 6 books in the Elric saga. There have been others, but the original saga is best. They were making a movie, but production ceased. Kind of glad about that. There were some comics made as well.

There's also two other companion books, to go along with Elric's. Hawkmoon and Corum. It's part of his Eternal Champion saga. All three (Elric, Hawkmoon and Corum) are interlinked somehow. All bear a power or tool very similar to each others. It's very hard to describe, but they pop in and out of each others stories.

Also, I believe Umbra's sword is very much tailored after Elric's own "Stormbringer". =]

Here's a few of mine. Probably better to put them in a slideshow than post each individual picture.

Wow Dateranoth, i like a lot of those books. Terry Brooks has some good series including Magical Kingdom, Word/Void, and Shannara. Terry Goodkind is probably one of my favorite authors, i've been wanting to checck out his new book for awhile.... as i write in multiple genre's i know it's not easy to do so, i'd like to see how he does. I started with Tolkein and Lloyd Alexander years ago, both are great. Then there was C.J. Cherryh's Goblin Mirror and Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey's Elvenbane triliogy. Stephen R Donaldson's Unbeliever series 1,2, & 3 , his Mordant's Need books, and Gap series. Then there was a Heinlein fixation with Number of the Beast and Stranger in a strange land. The Potter books of course, and Elric's saga. Then i started getting into a lot of Mercedes Lackey with the Valdemar books and her SERRAted Edge and Bedlam's Bard books, and possibly my favorite from her was the Gryphon series. I also loved Anne Bishop's Black Jewel trilogy and Katherine Kerr's Deverry Novel's. Then there's Piers Anthony, Douglass Adams, and Grant Naylor (or Grant and Naylor). I could literally go on and on and on ..... but i couldn't say I have one favorite author... i love them all.

Favorite books that I have read:

Rainbow 6- Tom Clancy

Splinter Cell (The Original, Barracuda, and Checkmate)- Tom Clancy

The Hunt For Red October- Tom Clancy

Atlus Shrugged- Ayn Rand

The Stand- Stephen King

The Gunslinger- Stephen King

The Drawing of the Three- Stephen King

The Wastelands- Stephen King

Wizard and Glass- Stephen King

If you can't tell, I love me some Tom Clancy and Stephen King lol. I have others that I've read, like To Kill A Mockingbird, Great Gatsby, and Angela's Ashes. While I think they are great books with amazing writing, they're not something I would go back and read over and over again. I am definitely trying to get a hold of the Hitchhiker's Guide books, I just saw the movie based on the Guide to the Galaxy book a couple days ago. The movie I thought was very funny and it got me interested in reading the entire series. Planning on getting the Deluxe Edition through Barnes and Nobles since it's 20 bucks.

I'll start it off with my favorite book: Brave New World by Audoulos Huxley

That's not my fave, but it's a very good one. It was written by Aldous Huxley though. ;)

I really loved Hemingway's "For Whom The Bell Tolls". I also really love the story of "A Tale of Two Cities" by Dickens. I've read that one a few times, actually. I got into a period where I just felt like reading a bunch of classics.

My all time favorite is a memoir by Dave Eggers, "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius." I laughed and cried tons during that book. I'd recommend it fully to anyone and everyone. Sadly, as often as I've recommended it, none of my friends have read it. I love to read and most of my friends aren't really "book people." :(

Oh, lately I've been trying out Neil Gaiman as a recommendation from my mother. He seems interesting so far. I also just received "The Pillars of the Earth" and "The World Without End" by Ken Follett from a friend for my birthday. I haven't started those yet, but she says they're excellent.

I saw that you mentioned it earlier and I was pretty intrigued. I've heard good things about that book, so I'm keeping an eye out for it. I'm waiting for my Hitchhiker's Guide collection to come in the mail, so I'll have to start on those first, but Red Storm Rising will be my next book for sure. I've also seen people mention Orson Scott Card a lot, so I think I will need to read some of those books as well. I have to say, this thread is great for casual readers (like myself) to find new and interesting books. There are some here that I've never heard, but will most definitely read when I get the chance.
