It appears that Lara Croft has lost the “Tomb Raider” name.
Lara’s developer, Crystal Dynamics announced that a new Lara Croft game is on the horizon, but missing from the game is the name “Tomb Raider”. Instead the game is being called, “Lara Croft And The Guardian Of Light” based on the logo.
No information on what consoles the game will appear on, but it does appears that Crystal Dynamics is looking for a 2010 release.
“Lara Croft” can survive as its own franchise, but I’ll be intrigued if you can have “Tomb Raider” without Lara Croft. Hell, many of her games barely had anything to do with tombs.
